How to Crochet the Double Treble Column Stitch Photo Tutorial

Today we are going to learn how to work the tallest of our Column Stitches: The Double Treble Column Stitch.
Column Stitches are a great way to create height with a unique texture in your crochet projects. They are fairly easy to work once you get a handle on the hook placement and they allow a project to grow very quickly.
As far as yarn usage, as they are a tall stitch, they are not going to be too heavy on the yarn usage. The resulting fabric is fairly open with the column stitches creating “pillars” across the rows.

Notes
This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a single colour.
Instructions
To begin, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch pattern, you will need a foundation chain with a multiple of 2 stitches, plus 1.
For example, ch 25.
Row One:
Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each st across. Ch 5 (Counts as a dtr), turn.
Row Two:
Dtr in the next st, *yo, insert hook under the top 2 front loops that you see about a quarter of the way down on the post of the previous dtr st, yo and draw up a loop, [yo and insert your hook under the next 2 front loops that you see a little further down on the post of the previous st, yo and draw up a loop] twice more, insert your hook into the next sc st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 3 loops on your hook, [yo and then draw through 2 loops on your hook] three times, dtr in the next st; Rpt from * across ending with a dtr in the final st. Ch 1, turn.
Row Three:
Sc in the 1st st and in each st across, ending by working your final sc in the top of the turning ch. Ch 4 (Counts as a tr), turn.
And that’s it!
For the rest of the pattern simply repeat rows 2 and 3 for the pattern. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
