Knotted Half Double Crochet 2 Photo Tutorial

Learn how to crochet this beautiful, simple version of the Knotted Half Double Crochet Stitch (Knotted HDC) with an easy two row repeat!

Not too long ago I was asked about how to work the Knotted Half Double Crochet Stitch and in my research of the stitch I discovered that there are two versions of the stitch floating around!

Yesterday I published the more common version of the Knotted Half Double Crochet Stitch pattern, today I have the other for you.

Both of the patterns are constructed in a similar way with rows of single crochet stitches worked in between rows of texture.

Materials

• medium/worsted weight yarn
• 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook

Abbreviations

• Blo – Back Loop Only
• Ch – Chain
• Rpt – Repeat
• Sc – Single Crochet
• Sk – Skip
• Sl st – Slip stitch
• Sp – Space
• Yo – Yarn over
• Yo Sl St – Yarn Over Slip Stitch

Special Stitches

Yarn Over Slip Stitch - Yo, insert your hook into the next st, yo and draw up the loop drawing the same loop through all the loops on your hook. Yarn Over Slip Stitch Made.

Notes

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in a single colour.

Instructions

To begin, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch, you may use any number of stitches for your foundation chain.

For example, ch 21.

Row One:

Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Row Two:

Sc in the first st, yo sl st in the next st and each st across until 1 st remains, sc in the final st, ch 1 turn.

Row Three:

Sc in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

And that’s it!

For the remainder of the pattern simply repeat rows two and three. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
