- YO - Yarn Over Hook
**Herringbone Double Crochet (Herr dc):
YO and insert hook in designated stitch. YO and pull loop through the stitch and through the first loop on hook. YO and pull through one loop. YO and pull through two remaining loops.
Additional Notes: Ch 2 at beginning of row counts as st. This means you will work the last stitch of every row in the 2nd turning chain.
The additional two chains added after you achieve the length you need for your project will be the first turning chain in the project. There is no stitch multiple for this stitch, you can chain as many as you need. We only have you add two chains so your project is exactly the length you want and you don’t loose a little bit by working the first stitch in the third chain from the hook.
The Pattern
Row 1: Ch any number of sts to get the width you need for your project and add 2 chains at the end (these will be turning chains). Herr dc in 3rd ch from hook. Herr dc in each rem ch. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 2. Herr dc in next st and in each rem st. Turn.
Repeat: Rep row 2 until work measures the length you want. Fasten off as usual.
