How to Crochet the Granny Stripe Stitch Photo Tutorial
The Granny Stripe Stitch is a two-row repeat crochet pattern constructed with clusters of double crochet nested in between the previous row’s double crochet clusters to create an offset pattern that is light and not completely solid. It works great for baby blankets, modern afghans, cardigans, and shawls.
The two-row repeat pattern is easy to remember and you will not need to reference the pattern once you made a few rows. There are no stitches to count either, it is the perfect project to make while watching your favorite TV show.

- sk – skip
- dc – double crochet
Notes
- ch3 at the beginning of each row counts as a double crochet
- stitches contained within ** are the repeat section for that row
Instructions
Starting Chain: This pattern requires you to chain multiples of 3x+1chains. My starting chain is 28ch.
Row 1: dc in the 4th ch from the hook, *sk2, 3dc in the next st*, repeat from * until you have 3chs left, sk2, 2dc in the last ch.
Row 2: ch3, *3dc in the next space between the 3dc clusters below*, repeat from * until you have crocheted in the last space between the 3dc clusters below, dc in the top ch of the ch3 below.
Row 3: ch3, dc in the first stitch, *3dc in the next space between the 3dc clusters below*, repeat from * until you have crocheted in the last space between the 3dc clusters below
NOTE: the space between the dc and the 3dc cluster found at the beginning and end of the row does not count as a space.
Make 2dc in the last stitch (the 3rd chain of ch3 you made on Row 2).
Repeat rows 2 & 3 until you have the required length.
