How to Crochet the Mini Puff Stitch Photo Tutorial

Let's talk about a miniature version of a puff stitch. These little stitches create a subtle crochet texture.
Bobbles, puffs, popcorns are all popular crochet stitches for creating eye catching fabrics. But sometimes we just want a little texture, that’s not overwhelming.
Once I was designing the bowtie and wanted something cute and fun for boys. I started with the puff stitch, but it was just too much for a such a little project.
Adding a smaller version of the puff stitch was the answer.

Materials
- #4 medium worsted weight yarn
- 5mm Hook (H)*
- yarn needle
- scissors
- measuring tape
Abbreviations
- ch(s) - chain(s)
- mp - mini puff stitch
- sc - single crochet
Gauge
- 2″/5cm x 2″/5cm = 6 sts x 7 rows in pattern
Notes
- Ch 1 at the beginning of a row does not count as a stitch.
- Stitch multiple is any number, plus 1 for the starting chain.
Instructions
1. Insert your hook into the stitch to be worked, yarn over and draw up a loop (3 loops on hook).
2. Insert your hook into the same stitch, then yarn over and draw up a loop (4 loops on hook).
3. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops, 1 mini puff stitch made.
To crochet a fabric of only mini puff stitches
Start with any number of chains, plus 1 more for the turning ch.
Mp in 2nd ch from your hook and in each ch across, turn.
Ch 1 (doesn’t count), in same st mp, continue to mp in each st across, turn.
Rep last row for length of fabric.
