Pearls and Oysters Crochet Stitch Photo Tutorial

Materials

• 6 mm / US J – 10 hook
• Rosarios Amor-Perfeito (50% wool, 50% acrylic, 100g/3.5oz, 120m/131yd) in rust (30). You will need about 290g/348m/380yd.
• Tapestry needle
• Measuring tape

Size

• The Sample is approximately 23 cm / 9.5” tall and 127 cm / 50 inches wide.
• The Pearls and Oysters Stitch requires a stitch multiple of 15 st.

Gauge

• The gauge for this pattern, in alternating rows of sc and dc, is 12 st by 11 rows for a 10 cm by 10 cm / 4” by 4” square.

Special Stitches

Front post double treble crochet = Yarn over three times, insert hook from front to back to front behind the indicated double crochet post below, yarn over, and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook). Yarn over, and pull through all remaining loops.

Bobble Stitch = Yarn over, insert your hook, *Yarn over and pull up a loop, Yarn over and pull through two loops, * repeat from * to * four more times (6 loops on your hook), Yarn over and pull through all the loops.

Double crochet 2 stitches together (dc2tog) = Yarn over, insert your hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, Yarn over, pull through 2 loops, Yarn over, insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, Yarn over, pull through 2 loops, Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops.

Instructions

Row 1 (WS): Ch 2, dc across, turn.

Row 2 (RS): Ch 1, sc across, turn.

Row 3 – 6: Repeat Row 1 – 2 twice.

Row 7: Repeat Row 1.

Row 8 (RS): Ch 1, [sc 5, skip 1, (3 fpdtr around post of dc 5 row below – counts as 1st) twice, skip 1, sc 5, bobble] across, omitting the last bobble and sc instead, turn.

Row 9 (WS): Ch 2, dc 4, [dc2tog, sc flo 2, sl st flo 2, sc flo 2, dc2tog, dc 7] until last 11 st, dc2tog, sc flo 2, sl st flo 2, sc flo 2, dc2tog, dc 3, turn.

Row 10 – 19: Repeat Row 2 – 3 five times.

Row 20 (RS): Ch 1, sc, [sc 5, bobble, sc 5, skip 1, (3 fpdtr around post of dc 5 row below) twice, skip 1] until last 14 st, sc 5, bobble, sc 8, turn.

Row 21 (WS): Ch 2, dc 13, [dc2tog, sc flo 2, sl st flo 2, sc flo 2, dc2tog, dc 7] until last 2 st, dc 2, turn.

Row 22 – 25: Repeat Row 2 – 3 twice.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
