How to Crochet the Cluster and Ridge Stitch Photo Tutorial

The Cluster and Ridge crochet stitch pattern is all about texture and colour and a great choice for a project with a thick fabric.
I love the clean look of this Cluster and Ridge crochet stitch pattern. The pattern itself does have a fairly long repeat (of six rows), but it is quite easy to catch onto.
The texture in the pattern is created mostly by working beautiful stitches in either the front or the back loop only. In this pattern you will work cluster stitches and some yarn over slip stitches which create the ridges. It’s a beautiful combination!

- This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in two colours labelled A and B.
Instructions
To begin, with colour A, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch, you will need an even number of stitches for your foundation chain. For example, ch 30.
Row One: Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Two: Yo Sl st in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Three: Sc in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Four: Working under the Flo, sc in the 1st st and in each st across. Change colour. Ch 1, turn.
Row Five: Sc in the 1st st, *CL (dc2tog) in the Flo of the next st 2 rows below, sc in the next st of the previous row; Rpt from * across. Ch 1, turn.
Row Six: Sc in the 1st st and in each st across. Change colour. Ch 1, turn.
Row Seven: Sc in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
And that’s it!
Repeat rows 2-7 for the rest of the pattern. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
