Crochet Linked Flowers Stitch Photo Tutorial

Have you seen those cool blankets or scarves that look like they’re made of little flowers all holding hands? That’s called the Linked Flower Stitch, and it’s not as hard as it looks.

This stitch is not hard to learn. You only need to know basic crochet stitches like chains and double crochet. Once you try it, you’ll love how it looks.

It’s pretty and fun to make. The Linked Flower Stitch looks like little flowers connected together.

It’s great for blankets, scarves, or even bags.

Materials

• Acrylic Aran Yarn in blue and green
• 5mm crochet hook

Abbreviations

• magic ring
• st(s) – stitch(es)
• ch(s) – chain(s)
• sl st – slip stitch
• tr – treble
• yo – yarn over
• dc – double crochet

Notes

• Stitches contained within ( ) are to be made into the same stitch, or chain or chain space (as instructed).
• Stitches contained within ** are the repeat section for that row s many times as indicated in the number following the * .
• I have broken down each row into steps so you can follow along with the photo tutorial.

Instructions

Starting Chain: This stitch doesn’t have a starting chain.

Row 1:

Step 1: Make the first half flower to start the row

Ch6, sl st in the 6th ch from the hook, ch4 (counts as 1tr), (4tr) in the circle, flip your work with the circle pointing to the right (right now it’s pointing to the left…

Step 2: Make the full flower (repeat section)

*Ch11, sl st in the 7th ch from the hook, sl st in next 4chs, the newly made circle is now pointing to the right, flip it over to the left, (3tr, ch4, sl st, ch4, 4tr) all into the circle you just created*.

Step 3: Make the rest of the full flowers

Repeat Step 3 until you have the desired width to your work, or until you have the desired number of flowers.

Step 4: Make the last half flower to finish the row

Ch11, sl st in 7th ch from hook, sl st in next 4chs, the newly made circle is now pointing to the right, flip it over to the left, (3tr, ch4, sl st) in the newly formed circle, sl st into 4chs of the circle to bring the yarn at the top, turn.

Row 2:

Step 1: Make the first half flower at start the row

Ch4, (4tr) into the circle.

Step 2: Make the full flower (repeat section)

*(4Tr, ch4, sl st, ch4, 4tr) into the next circle*.

Step 3: Make the rest of the full flowers

Repeat Step 2 until you have crocheted in every circle and you have reached the last single pet…

Step 4: Make the last half flower to finish the row

(5Tr) into the very last circle, turn.

If you are working with multiple colors, this is where you change the colors.

Row 3:

Step 1: Make the first half flower in the row

Ch11, sl st in the 7th ch from hook, sl st in next 4chs, the newly made circle is now pointing to the right, flip it to point to the left, (4tr) in the circle, flip the petal to point back to the right.

Step 2: Make the full flower (repeat section)

NOTE: You will have to flip your work with the right side towards you and away from you as you make each section of stitches. I put the word “flip” every time you need to shift your work.

*Ch11, sl st in the 7ch from the hook, sl st in next 4chs, flip the newly made circle to point to the left, (3tr) in the circle, flip, sl st in the 4th ch of ch4 of the flower petal below (the ch4 is locked on the inner corner of the right petal), ch4, flip, sl st back into the circle.

This will connect the top right petal to the bottom petal.

Ch4, flip, sl st into the top ch of ch4 of the left petal below (this is the inner corner of the petal), flip, (4tr) into the top circle*.

This will connect the top left petal above to the petal below it.

Step 3: Make the rest of the full flowers

Repeat Step 2 until you have reached the last single petal at the end.

Step 4: Make the half flower to finish the row

Ch11, sl st in the 7th ch from hook, sl st in next 4chs, the newly made circle is now pointing to the right, flip it to point to the left, (3tr) in the circle, flip, sl st into the top ch of ch4 from the flower petal below, ch4, flip, sl st back into the top circle, sl st into 4ch from the circle to bring the yarn to the top, turn.

Row 4:

Step 1: Make the first half flower to start the row

Ch4, (4tr) into the circle

Step 2: Make the first full flower (repeat section)

*(4Tr, ch4, sl st, ch4, 4tr) into the next circle*

Step 3: Make the rest of the full flowers

Repeat Step 2 until you have crocheted in every circle and you have reached the last single petal

Step 4: Make the last half flower to finish the row

(5Tr) into the very last circle, turn.

Repeat Row Section

Repeat rows 3 and 4 until you have the desired length to your work.
