Crossed Half Double Crochet Stitch Photo Tutorial

The Crossed Half Double Crochet Stitch is really easy – you only need to know the half double crochet stitch. A simple variation in stitch placement gives this stitch a fabulous knit look!

Basically you will skip a stitch, place a half double crochet stitch and then come back and place another half double crochet stitch in the stitch you skipped. This creates the crossed stitch where one half double crochet stitch crosses over in front of the previous half double crochet stitch. Easy peasy!

Abbreviations

ch = chain

hdc = half double crochet

st = stitch

Chain an even number of chains

For this sample I am chaining a total of 40

Row 1: hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across to end. Turn

Row 2: ch 2 (does not count as st), *skip the next st, hdc in the next st,

hdc in the skipped st, * repeat between * * to end. Turn.
