How to Crochet Hearts: Little Hearts Stitch Tutorial

Today’s post is all about crochet heart stitch! Learn how to crochet adorable hearts with this easy crochet heart pattern. These cute little hearts have a soft and squishy texture, and would look so adorable made into a crochet heart garland.

This romantic stitch is dense but cute, so use it for kitchen accessories, cowls, cushion covers or baby blankets. Once you learn the basics of this stitch, you will go on without even looking. It’s a perfect idea for a weekend project.

Chain stitch – ch

Slip stitch - slt

Double crochet / Single crochet – dc/sc

Treble / Double crochet – tr / dc

Half treble / Half daouble crochet – htr/hdc

Double treble / treble – dtr/tr

Font Post tr/dc– FPtr/dc

Back Post tr/dc – BPtr/dc

Puff stitch – pff: yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over, draw yarn through stitch. Repeat preceding step 3 times. Yarn over and draw through 8 loops on hook. Yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.

Foundation Chain: Multiples of 16 + 4

Row 1: Skip 3ch, make pff of 2 yarn over (YO) in next st: yarn over, insert hook into ch, yarn over, draw yarn through stitch. Repeat preceding step 1 more time. Yarn over and draw through 4 loops on hook. Yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. Make 2ch and 1pff in same foundation ch, skip 3ch, 1tr/dc in next ch.

Row 3: Make 3ch, 1tr/dc in each of next 3ch, 1FPtr/dc over Pst below, * make 1pff + 2ch + 1pff + 2ch + 1pff in dc/sc below, 1FPtr/dc over Pst below, 1tr/dc in each of next 3ch, work 1tr/dc + heart: { 1tr/dc in dc/sc below, 7ch,

Continue work on opposite side: skip 2st, 1dc/sc in next, 1htr / hdc, 1tr/dc.

Then work in last st: 4d tr / tr + 4ch + slt + 4ch, continue work on opposite side in the same last st: 4dtr/tr. Then make 1tr/dc in next st, 1htr/hdc in next, 1dc/sc in next and slt in next.

Insert hook into two loops of tr/dc and work slt. }
