Crochet Daisy Granny Square Photo Tutorial

These Daisy Granny Squares are easy and quick to make, and look great in any color.

It takes only 3 rounds to complete this easy daisy square and you have the option to make it as big as you like by crocheting more rounds in the background color.

Materials

  • Aran Yarn in Yellow, White, and Green
  • 4.5mm crochet hook

Abbreviations

  • slip knot
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • ch(s) – chain(s)
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • yo – yarn over
  • dc – double crochet
  • tr – treble stitch
  • incomplete tr – incomplete treble

Special Stitches

Incomplete Treble (incomplete tr) – This is made just like a regular treble, but you stop at the last step and leave the loop on the hook.

Yarn over twice, insert hook in the stitch below, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Notes

  • Crochet over the ends to minimize the amount you have to weave in
  • Stitches contained within * * are to be repeated as instructed
  • Stitches contained within ( ) are made in the same chain space.
  • The number at the end of each round is the number of stitches you should have in that round. The stitch count does not include the chains made in the corners.

Instructions

Round 1 (Daisy Center)

With yellow Aran yarn and a 4.5mm crochet hook, create a magic ring.

Ch3 (counts as 1dc), 11dc in the magic ring, sl st at the top of ch3 to close the round, fasten off = 12

Round 2 (Daisy Petals)

With white Aran yarn, join in any stitch of Round 1.

Ch4 (counts as 1tr), (2 incomplete tr) in the same stitch from where you chained 4, yo and pull through all 3 loops on your hook, ch3, *(3 incomplete tr) in next st, yo and pull through all 4 loops on your hook, ch3* x 11, sl st into the first petal to close the round, fasten off = 12

Round 3 (Daisy Square)

With green Aran yarn, join in any ch3 space.

(Ch4 (counts as 1tr), 2tr, ch3, 3tr) in the same ch3 space where you joined, (3dc) in next 2 ch3 spaces, *(3tr, ch3, 3tr) in next ch3 space, (3dc) in next 2 ch3 spaces* x 3 = 48.

Fasten off, weave in all ends.

To Make The Daisy Granny Square Bigger

If you want to make this daisy square bigger, crochet (3dc, ch3, 3dc) in each ch3 space of the corner, and (3dc) in every space between the clusters of 3dc below.

Repeat this as many times as you like until you have the size you want.
