How to Crochet the Flower Bud Stitch Photo Tutorial

The Flower Bud Stitch crochet pattern is fun featuring little cluster stitches that look like flower blossoms!

The cluster stitches in this Flower Bud crochet stitch are so easy to work, they are simply sets of three half double crochet stitches. In the row following, you will work crossed half double crochet stitches that will cause the little groups of stitches to pop out like flower buds.

It’s such a fun stitch to work and you’re going to enjoy using it in projects such as sweaters and blankets!

To begin, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch, you will need an odd number of chain stitches for your foundation chain. For example, ch 31.

Row One: Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook, sc in each st across, ch 1, turn.

Row Two: Hdc in the 1st st, sk the next st, *3 hdc in the next st, sk the next stitch; rpt from * across, hdc in the final st, ch 1, turn.

Row Three: Hdc in the 1st st, *sk the next 3 hdc, hdc in the next sp between the hdc sts, sk the previous 3 hdc, hdc in the sp between the previous 3 sts and the next; Rpt from * across, hdc in the top of the final st. Ch 1, turn.

Row Four: Hdc in the 1st st, *3 hdc in the next st, sk the next stitch; rpt from * across until 2 sts remain, sk the next st, hdc in the final st, ch 1, turn.

Row Five: Hdc in the 1st st, *sk the next 3 hdc, hdc in the next sp between the hdc sts, sk the previous 3 hdc, hdc in the sp between the previous 3 sts and the next; Rpt from * across, sc in the top of the final st. Ch 1, turn.

And that’s it!

For the rest of the pattern, simply repeat rows 2-5. Fasten off, weave in your ends.
