Crochet Basics: Solid Textured Stitch

This beautifully textured stitch forms a solid fabric. It’s much easier than looks and works up quickly once you get into the rhythm.

Chain Stitch – ch

Treble / double crochet – tr/dc Font Post tr / dc – FPtr/dc

Back Post tr / dc – BPtr/dc

3 Font Post tr/dc decrease – 3dec Stitch – st

Foundation Chain: 10 + 4 chs

Row 1: skip 3ch, * make 1tr/dc in each of next 10ch, 1ch; rep from*, work 1tr/dc in last ch instead 1ch and turn.

Row 2: make 3ch and 1tr/dc in space between first two sts below, 1BPtr/dc over next st below, * 1FPtr/dc over each of next 8 sts below, 1BPtr/dc over next st, 1tr/dc + 1ch + 1tr/dc in space of 1ch, 1BPtr/dc over next st; rep from *, 1FPtr/dc over each of next 8 sts below, 1BPtr/dc over next st, 1tr/dc in space between tr/dc and 3ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 3: make 3ch and 1tr/dc in space between first two sts below, 1FPtr/dc over each of next 2st, * 1BPtr/dc over each of next 8 sts below, 1FPtr/dc over each of next 2st, 1tr/dc + 1ch + 1tr/dc in space of 1ch, 1FPtr/dc over each of next 2st; rep from *, 1BPtr/dc over each of next 8 sts below, 1FPtr/dc over each of next 2st, 1tr/dc in space between tr/dc and 3ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 4: make 3ch and 1tr/dc in space between first two sts below, 1BPtr/dc over each of next 3st below, * work 3dec over next 4st below,

4ch and 1dc/sc in last ch, 3dec over next 4st below, 1BPtr/dc over each of next 3st, 1tr/dc + 1ch + 1tr/dc in space of 1ch, 1BPtr/dc over each of next 3st; rep from *, work 3dec over next 4st below, 4ch and 1dc/sc in last ch, 3dec over next 4st below, 1BPtr/dc over each of next 3st, 1tr/dc in space between tr/dc and 3ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 5: Make 3ch, * work 1FPtr/dc over each of next 4st, 1FPtr/dc over each of next two dec st, 1FPtr/dc over each of next 4st, make 1ch; rep from*, work 1tr/dc in third ch instead 1ch and turn.

Repeat rows 2 - 5.

I don't understand the stitch directions.  What is a Font stitch?

I think that is actually supposed to be «front» post (stitch), Fern, judging by the mention of a «back» post (stitch). It looks to me like a copy & paste error. I did use both the front and back posts and my sample looked like their sample. So try using the front and back posts. That should make the stitch look puffed up and puffed down. It's a very pretty stitch.
