1. It’s hard to keep track of which items aren’t supposed to go in the dryer.

Keep those items safe by placing them inside a mesh bag in the washing machine. When the load is finished, pull that bag out first and air-dry the items instead.
2. If you have a white or light-colored washing machine, stick a magnetic dry erase marker on the lid.

When you toss items into the washer, use the dry erase marker to write reminder notes such as which items needed to be double-checked for stains or which items can’t go in the dryer. Wipe off and repeat with the next load.
3. Purchase a wall-mounted drying rack for your laundry room.

You’ll have a spot to air-dry items that can be tucked out of the way when not in use.
4. A retractable wall-mounted drying line provides a spot to hang clothing.

You can snap it out of the way in an instant between loads.
6. If you have a front-loading washing machine, build a simple counter above it for folding and storage.

You can do this by anchoring two braces to the walls on either side of the washer and dryer and attaching a piece of wood cut to size over the top, making sure there’s enough room for proper ventilation.
7. Hang your ironing board

Mount two large hooks to the wall and hang your ironing board on them in style.
8. Pour liquid laundry detergent into a glass beverage dispenser.

Hang the spigot over the side of a shelf. It looks pretty, makes it easy to dispense detergent, and you’ll always see when you need more.
9. Towel bar

Hang a towel bar under a shelf above the washer and dryer to use as a clothing rod for hanging clothes.
10. Stain station

Create a laundry room “stain station” by placing tools such as a bleach pen, stain gel, and a small brush on a lazy Susan. Spin the wheel and grab what you need!
