With the tips below, you do not need to use chemical softeners to get fresh smelling laundry. This is good for off season clothing that you want to store for a long period.
Instructions:
1. Citrus Essential Oils: Mix together 1 1/2 cup borax, 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup baking soda and 20 drops of orange essential oil or lemon essential oil. Combine this mixture with a bottle of your laundry detergent then use as normal.
2. Lavender Or Rose Water: Pour some rose or lavender water in a spray bottle then spray your laundry before putting it in the washing machine. Some of the scent will remain even after drying and the cloths will smell fresh for a long period.
3. Use Peppermint Laundry Soap: A good example is Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Soap. It gives you fresh smelling cloths without using chemicals.

Use the following natural alternatives and avoid store-bought fabric softeners that are laden with chemicals and artificial ingredients.
1. Borax: Use 1/4 cup of 20 Mule Team Borax. Simply add it to the rinse cycle.
2. Vinegar: Use 1 cup of vinegar. This can be added to the wash or rinse cycle.
3. Baking Soda: Use 1/2 cup of baking soda. Add it to the water in the washing machine and let it dissolve before adding clothes.

When the cycle is finished, immediately remove the shirt and hang it up. Smooth the collar, cuffs, and seams with your hands. You just made your own steam dryer. The steam created by the melting ice relaxes the fibers and helps wrinkles vanish.

No one likes the realization that the one item you need or want to wear was missed during the weekend laundry run. Not only do you need it clean, but you need it to dry as quickly as possible too. Before you toss it in the dryer, add a couple of dry bath towels. They will help absorb some of the moisture and speed up the drying process. Another tip, if you hand-washed a single garment, put it in your kitchen salad spinner and give it several spins to help it dry more quickly. This will remove more moisture without excessive wringing and twisting that can damage fabrics and leave lots of wrinkles.
