Cleaning your house is certainly a time-consuming affair, and keeping a clean house often feels like a losing battle. And, except for those who truly enjoy dusting their baseboards and scrubbing their ovens, most people are likely eager to use that time for more enjoyable activities (me too).

For years, I’ve been collecting the best cleaning tips and tricks, that I will share with you in the series of posts. I hope, from now on, cleaning your house will never be time-consuming again. These tricks come handy especially when it comes to getting your house ready for guests in a short time. They also make your life much easier. For these tips, grab a bottle of hydrogen peroxide!

Try them and let me know if you find them effective and useful.

Whiten your bathtub and remove tough stains

Make a bathtub cleaner paste of one part hydrogen peroxide to two parts baking soda. Rub the paste on the stain and let stand for 30 minutes to one hour, then wipe and rinse. If necessary, repeat until the stain is gone. Citric acid is also very effective in getting rid of hard water stains – some can be removed simply by rubbing half a cut lemon over the stain, or by spraying neat lemon juice on the build-up. Leave for ten minutes and rinse, making sure to wipe the area dry afterwards.

Prepare natural toilet cleaning fizzles at home

Simple to make, these Fizzy Toilet Fresheners keep your bathroom smelling clean. The combination of sodium bicarbonate and citric acid help fight stains. Once the freshener hits the water, it starts to fizz and release a fresh and clean scent from essential oils. Be careful! are not intended for use in the bathtub. Because they are strongly scented to mask bathroom odors, the excess amounts of essential oil can cause skin irritation. You will need: silicone candy molds, 1 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup citric acid, 1/2 tsp white vinegar, 1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide, 15 to 20 drops of any essential oil (I use Lavender one). Instructions: Add baking soda to a mixing bowl and use a fork or whisk to break up clumps. Baking soda naturally cleans and eliminates odors, making it the perfect base for the fizzies. Add the citric acid (which you can find near the canning supplies at some storeand stir. The citric acid adds the fizz to these cleaners. In a small glass bowl, mix vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, which will work together to help clean your toilet. Now slowly drop by drop, add vinegar and hydrogen peroxide to the baking soda. If you add it all at once, you'll have a big mess due to the reaction between the baking soda and citric acid, so be careful! Now add the essential oil and gently mix. This is just for scent, so you can choose any scent you like. I used lavender. Use a half teaspoon to scoop the mixture into your candy molds, and press in gently with your fingers. You don't want to fill them completely full, because this will expand. Let dry for at least 6 hours or overnight. Place the dried toilet bombs in glass jar and keep them sealed near your toilet.

Refresh the bedding

It is advisable to refresh the mattress with a clean nozzle for delicate surfaces at least once a season. Ideally, we do this every time before changing bedding. Baking soda is a simple but versatile cleaning agent that can remove odors on furniture effectively. You can refresh your mattress by sprinkling baking soda on it, leaving for half an hour and then vacuuming the surface well.
