How to Crochet the Coastal Breeze Stitch Photo Tutorial

Enjoy learning to crochet the Coastal Breeze Crochet Stitch pattern and add it to a variety of designs and looks!

I love the small, dainty texture of this crochet stitch. The texture looks like little sea shell and they especially stand out when the pattern is worked in multiple colours. I have chosen to work it in two colours, but you may also work this pattern in more than two, or even in a single colour.

The combination of crochet stitches is also a simple one including only single crochet stitches and chain stitches. As a whole it’s a bit of a moss stitch meets baby shell stitch pattern.

Notes

This stitch is worked in rows in this tutorial and it may be worked in one colour or many. I will be working this pattern in two colours labelled A and B.

To begin, with colour A, make a slip knot and make a foundation chain. For this stitch, you will need an even number of stitches for your foundation chain.

Instructions

With colour A, ch 30.

Row One: Sc in 2nd ch from your hook and each across. Ch 1, turn.

Row Two: Sc in 1st st, *ch 1, sk the next st, sc in the next st; Rpt from * across. Ch 1, turn.

Row Three: *Working over the ch-1 sp work 3 sc in the next skipped st 2 rows below, sk the next sc in the previous row; Rpt from * across switching to colour B in the final st. Ch 1, turn.

Row Four: With colour B, sc in the 1st st, ch 1, sk the next st, sc in the next st, *ch 1, sk the next 2 sts, sc in the next st; Rpt from * all the way across. Ch 1, turn.

Row Five: *working over the ch-1 sp, work 3 sc into the middle sc 2 rows below, sk the next st; Rpt from * across switching to colour A in the final st. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat rows 4 and 5 in colour A, pick up colour B.

And that’s it!

For the pattern you will simply repeat rows four and five alternating between your colours every second row.
