Wide Checkers Crochet Stitch Tutorial

Learn how to crochet the Wide Checkers Stitch with this tutorial.

This crochet stitch is made by repeating 5 single crochets and 5 double crochets across the row. Then on the next row, you switch it so you’re single crocheting in all the double crochets and double crocheting in all the single crochets.

This stitch is a great one for any large project so the unique woven-like patterning can be seen.

  • 100 yds worsted weight yarn
  • 5.5mm crochet hook
  • Needle to weave in ends
  • Scissors

  • Gauge: 13 sts x 11 rows = 4 in. (same stitch as pattern)

  • Count carefully! It is easy to get off track.

  • You may change color where ever you want. I changed at the beginning of row 8, 15, 22 & 26.
