Material

STITCHES USED IN THE BRAIDED CROCHET

To crochet the braided crochet stitch pattern you need the following stitches and abbreviations:

Slip Knot

Use the crochet hook to draw the yarn through the loop and pull the loop until tight

Chain (CH)

Wrap the yarn over the hook from back to front.

Pull the hook with the yarn, through the loop that is on your hook

Extended Half Double Crochet (EHDC)

YO and slide the hook in the second chain from the hook, YO, and pull up a loop (3 loops on your hook). YO and pull it through the first loop on the hook, YO one more time and pull the yarn through all 3 loops on the hook

Slip Stitch (SL ST)

Slide the hook through a stitch you want to crochet a slip stitch

Yarn over the hook

Draw up a loop and pull it through the loop on your hook

Skip (SK)

Skip a number of stitches as described in the pattern before inserting the hook in the next stitch.

HOW TO CROCHET BRAIDED CROCHET

Follow the stitch pattern descriptions below to crochet the braided crochet:

Foundation Row: Start with a slip knot and CH any number of stitches. To get a stitch pattern start with at least 15 chains

Row 1: SK first 3 CH, insert hook and EHDC in each CH all the way across the first row, CH 1, and turn

Row 2: Insert hook and SL ST in the front loop only all the way across the row, CH 3, and turn

Row 3: YO and insert hook in 3rd stitch, EHDC in front loop only, CH1, and turn
