Made with front post and back post stitches, the diamond-shaped texture forms vertical ribbons.

Unfortunately, the backside isn’t very pretty so it is best used for projects where it won’t be visible such as sweaters, hats and mittens or home decor.

Size

The patterns are written for a 15cm by 15cm / 6” by 6” square.

Stitch Multiple

The pattern needs a multiple of 9 number of stitches; your starting chain will be a multiple of 9 + 2 for an extra turning chain.

Gauge

The gauge for this pattern is 18 st by 9.5 rows in stitch pattern for a 10 cm by 10 cm square (4” by 4”).

st = stitch

ch = chain

sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet

yo = yarn over

dc2tog = double crochet 2 stitches together

fpdc = front post double crochet

fpdc2tog = front post double crochet 2 stitches together

fptr = front post treble crochet

bpdc = back post double crochet

bpdc2tog = back post double crochet 2 stitches together

skip = miss

Textured Crochet Stitch Pattern

With your 4mm / US G-6 hook ch 29,

Row 1: Dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, dc across. <27 st>

Row 2: Ch 2, [dc 2, dc2tog, (fpdc, ch 1, fpdc) in next st, dc2tog, dc 2] across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, [dc 1, dc2tog, bpdc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in ch-1 space below, bpdc, dc2tog, dc 1] across, turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, [dc2tog, fpdc 2, 2 dc in ch-1 space below, fpdc 2, dc2tog] across, turn. <26 st>

Row 5: Ch 2, [2 dc, bpdc2tog, bpdc 2, bpdc2tog, 2 dc] across, turn.

Row 6: Ch 2, [dc, 2 dc, fpdc2tog twice, 2 dc, dc] across, turn.

Repeat Row 2 to 7.
